We will depart from Arusha on this truly exhilarating 5day safari, which will take visitors to 4 magnificent destinations rich in wildlife and packed with some of Tanzania’s best adventures. We’ll combine outstanding wildlife viewing, breathtaking scenery, and fascinating encounters with members of our tribe in this itinerary.
At 7:30 a.m., your private safari guide will pick you up from your Arusha hotel and take you to Tarangire National Park, which is known for its large number of elephants. Tarangire is a massive park. Looking south from the park gate, it stretches as far as the eye can see. This incredible park dubbed the “Elephant Playground,” is home to massive herds of these majestic creatures. Tarangire, on the other hand, is home to buffalo, lions, wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, and the park rivals the Serengeti in terms of sheer animal density. What do you think you’ll see today? Perhaps a lone male lion resting beneath a tree, or a trio of male cheetah bonding in the sun. Perhaps a graceful Grant’s gazelle or zebra bounding away from the road, or a pair of giraffe happily munching on the finest acacia branches. Look for kudu and oryx, which are Tarangire specialties. You’ll leave the park late in the afternoon and drive to your lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
We will collect our lunch boxes after an early breakfast, and our journey will take us west and north. The Serengeti, as everyone knows, is our exciting destination! With the Serengeti as our destination and the wonders of Tarangire still fresh in your mind, we’ll embark on a 3-hour journey to the north and west. You can ask your driver-guide questions about Tanzanian culture, traditions, tribes, and, of course, wildlife along the way. Treat him like an encyclopedia on wheels; he’ll never let you down with his answers! Even before you reach the magnificent Serengeti plains, you’ll feel like an expert in no time. We’ll have lunch when we arrive before heading out on our afternoon game drive. Your afternoon game drive here combines the known with the unknown, with the certainty that you will be amazed offset by the uncertainty of exactly what and when you will see it. Drive to the comfort of your tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay late in the afternoon.
Our journey today takes us away from the Serengeti National Park. After our morning game drive, perhaps looking for any animal that has eluded your eagle-eyed driver-guide up to this point. We’ll travel south to Lake Eyasi after lunch. Here, we’ll have the chance to remind ourselves that Tanzania is home to both fantastic wildlife and rich human culture. Our hosts this afternoon are the Datoga tribe, who show us around their village and teach us about their customs and traditions. It is a vibrant experience that you will never forget. Arrive late at night, just in time for your delicious dinner and overnight.
Lake Eyasi is unique because it is home to one of the world’s last hunter-gatherer tribes. The Hadzabe bush people don’t grow their food, don’t keep livestock and don’t follow any rules or calendars. They follow a hunter-gatherer lifestyle that hasn’t changed much in 10,000 years. You’ll be able to observe Hadzabe’s traditional survival methods, such as how they hunt. You can rest assured that nothing is hunted that isn’t fully utilized. The Hadzabe way of life respects the land and all of its inhabitants, and it is full of beauty and peace. After lunch, travel to Karatu and check into your lodge, which is conveniently located near the entrance to our next attraction, the Ngorongoro Crater.
Today, we’ll go on game drives through the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and the heart of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The stunning crater of Ngorongoro is a one-of-a-kind home for many different species of Tanzanian wildlife. You might even see a black rhino here if you’re lucky. After breakfast, we set out from our safari lodge at 6:00 a.m. to reach the rim and then descend into the vast crater itself. The Lerai Forest, on one side, is a typical mountain forest landscape with almost tropical characteristics.
Lions, leopards, wildebeests, zebras, elephants, hyenas, black rhinos, buffalo, Thomson’s gazelles, and elands all live in large numbers in the crater. Hippos can be found in pools and swampland, and the highland birdlife is vibrant and abundant near the water. Lake Magadi, which covers a portion of the crater floor, is frequently visited by flamingos.
Later afternoon shall have a road transfer to Arusha or Airport as per your ongoing schedule.
